Roger Moore Tribute by FreyFox Roger Moore Tribute by FreyFox
Sir Roger Moore, the actor who played James Bond in seven films between 1973 and 1985 has passed away today. He was 89. He was one of my favourite portrayals of Bond with his fun and light hearted demeanour and a lot of fun scenes were in his films too. I think out of them all my favourite was "The Spy Who Loved Me", closely followed by "For Your Eyes Only".

Speaking of "For Your Eyes Only", Roger's favourite car in the series was a battered bright yellow Citroen 2CV, which makes an unlikely getaway car when his Lotus Esprit is destroyed and is forced to get away in this instead, against two far more powerful Peugeot 504 saloons. In the end, it made for an interesting and exciting chase through the Spanish olive groves!

A video of the chase is here; www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SP...…

Roger also released a book a few years ago called "Bond on Bond", about his experiences of the films and his thoughts on them. It is really good and I highly recommend it for any Bond fan :)

Thank you for the memories Sir Roger. We'll miss you.

The funniest part of "For Your Eyes Only" was when Bond told the girl to "Take the low road."  She turns the car upside down, and Bond says, "Not that low!"

That was a funny part yes :) I also like Blofeld offering to buy Bond a "delicatessan in stainless steel!" XD

Roger Moore could make even bad James Bond movies worth watching.
Bad modern Bond films are just bad--I never want to watch them again.
But even Moonraker is fun with Roger Moore. No other Bond could have pulled that off.

Indeed. I liked "Casino Royale" but it dragged in a few places. "Skyfall" was very good. "Spectre" was too long.

Same :) I wanted a toy version of one but they were sold out so I had to settle for a VW Beetle ^^.

One of my favorite Bonds, one of my favorite Bond chases.

RIP.

Extra points if you remember his role in the American film "The Cannonball Run" from 1981. His character was a playboy heir to a business fortune who, much to the chagrin of his mother, liked to go around in a silver Aston Martin (with modifications) pretending to be Roger Moore.

My first ever seen Bond film was his final, View to Kill, where he chased Grace Jones with Taxi (or what was left of it).
I'm gonna miss my childhood hero.

AVTAK isn't my fave Moore film but I love many scenes in it. Who cares if he's 57 in that one? :D
